One of America’s classic sporting events begins competition on April 7, 2022, hopefully without COVID-19 clouds.

Since 1934, the Masters' Tournament at the Augusta National golf course has been home to some of golf's greatest moments.

With Tiger Woods returning to the hilly course once again, expectations are sky-high for another thrilling back-nine pairing late on Sunday afternoon.

Furthermore, updated guidance indicates COVID-19 concerns have faded away.

‘As we return to normal entry operations for the Masters 2022 golf tournament in Augusta, GA, COVID-19 testing and face coverings are not required for entry. And proof of vaccination will not be required for patrons, says the event’s website.

‘All in attendance are asked to self-monitor and stay home if experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. In addition, frequent handwashing is encouraged, and hand-sanitizing stations will be available throughout the grounds.’

‘In the event, there is a change in public health conditions, requirements may be modified.’

"In this area, the risk is low," stated Dr. Rodger MacArthur, a professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.

According to an Augusta Chronicle analysis on April 3, 2022, data from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control indicates Aiken County has seen 96 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the past two weeks.

However, the prestigious 1018 Club recently stated 'We have decided that for the 2022 Masters, all guests will be required to send us proof of vaccination in advance of arrival to gain access to the club or a negative COVID test within 72 hours of arrival.'

Previously, the PGA TOUR had developed health and safety measures to promote safe environments and quality experiences while on the golf course. As per the U.S. CDC guidelines, the PGA TOUR guidelines for on-site spectatorship and attendance are subject to change.

Upon arrival to PGA events, each guest must acknowledge that they are not experiencing any symptoms of COVID. Once an admissible answer is received, guests will proceed through standard security checks.

But those patrons displaying COVID-19 symptoms will not be admitted to PGA TOUR tournaments. ‘So please check your temperature before arrival to confirm you do not have a fever of over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit.’

In 2021, international Pro players and caddies were required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter the U.S. and compete at events. The regulations also required non-US nationals to receive a negative coronavirus test within three days of traveling to the U.S.

As of April 2022, the USPGA does not have a national policy requiring measles, yellow fever, polio, or dengue vaccinations for international fans attending events in the U.S. Nor are hepatitis A vaccinations required for local food service staff.

When Tiger Woods talked about his health status on April 5, 2022, he spoke about how his golf swing feels and his ability to walk 72 holes at Augusta National.

Woods did not specify his COVID-19 Vaccination status; however, nobody from the media asked that intrusive question!
