The U.S. Department of State issued a Travel Advisory on March 7, 2022, regarding Thailand's expanding COVID-19 outbreak. The State Department's Level 4: Do Not Travel, along with the U.S. CDC's Travel Advisory, indicates a very high level of COVID-19 in the country.

The Bangkok Post reported 69 more Covid-19 fatalities on March 8, 2022, and 18,943 confirmed new cases during the previous 24 hours.

'Your risk of contracting COVID-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with a U.S. FDA authorized vaccine,' says the CDC.

Visit the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok's COVID-19 webpage for more information on COVID-19 and related restrictions and conditions in Thailand.

The Travel Advisory also says visitors should reconsider travel to Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat, and Songkhla provinces as the U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in these provinces.

Furthermore, U.S government employees must obtain special authorization to travel to these provinces.
