RA 27/3 Rubella Vaccine Description
RA 27/3 rubella vaccine is a live attenuated virus. It was first isolated in 1965 at the Wistar Institute. The virus was attenuated by 25–30 passages in tissue culture, using human diploid fibroblasts. It does not contain duck, chicken, or egg protein.
RA 27/3 is the "R" in the MMR II vaccine.
RA 27/3 Rubella Vaccine Indication
RA 27/3 is indicated to prevent rubella, also known as German Measles.
RA 27/3 Rubella Vaccine Dosage
This vaccine is the "R" component of the MMR II vaccine.
The dose of MMR II for any age is 0.5 mL administered subcutaneously, preferably into the outer aspect of the upper arm.
