India Reorders COVID-19 Vaccines

According to various media sources, India has responded to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases by ordering fresh supplies of vaccines.
For example, PTI reported on April 13, 2023, Serum Institute of India had restarted manufacturing of its CoviShield™ vaccine.
And as of April 14, 2023, media reports indicate orders were placed for the CorbeVax and Bharat Biotech's intranasal iNCOVACC® vaccines.
These vaccine orders are related to the sudden change in COVID-19 cases reported throughout India.
On April 12, 2023, the World Health Organization (WHO) disclosed that the South-East Asia Region reported over 80,000 new cases, a 481% increase compared to the previous 28-day period.
Furthermore, seven (64%) of the 11 countries for which data are available reported increases in new cases.
The most significant numbers of new COVID-19 cases were reported from India, Indonesia, and Thailand.
This data contrasts with the WHO's Edition #138 report, highlighting positive trends.
Over the last 28 days (March 13 to April 9, 2023), COVID-19 cases decreased by 28%.
And related fatalities declined by 30% compared to the previous period.
While the U.S. government recently ended its COVID-19 pandemic status, the data from India indicates this three-year global pandemic may not have ended.
In the U.S., various COVID-19 vaccines remain available as of April 14, 2023.
