COVID-19 Fatalities Decreased by 8.2%
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced today the current 7-day moving average of new COVID-19 deaths (628) decreased 8.2% compared with the previous weekly average.
This positive, decreasing trend started around January 13, 2021.
In February 2021, the percentage of hospitalized patients who died in the hospital decreased to 6.4%, possibly as a result of a lower proportion of older patients hospitalized compared to past months, says the CDC.
As of April 28, 2021, the CDC confirmed a total of 571,297 COVID-19 deaths had been reported during the pandemic, which was initially detected in late 2019 in China.
